My name is Claire and I've gone from being a self-published indie author to professional book editor and book coach within two years. ​

One day I found myself as a stay-home-mom and an idea for a novel hit me in a way that I couldn't escape it.

 

I woke up at 5am with a fire inside me to write out this idea into a story. This is something I've been wanting to pursue my entire life.

I started writing with a fire inside me. I romanticized the idea of writing this book and publishing it.

 

Would an agent pick it up and shop it around? Would I self-publish it?

 

Guess what happened? Nothing. I got stuck in the editing process.

 

I didn’t have a plan to go through the manuscript on my own. I didn’t know what type of editing I needed. I didn’t know how to self-publish, not to mention marketing the book.

 

I didn't know what I didn't know. 
 

I took the long route, teaching myself everything from how to self-edit, to getting feedback on query letters, what a good author platform looked like and, by the way, I needed to come up with a content strategy plan for my author social media.
